Watershed Education Network
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
The Watershed Education Network is hosting a call for art to be auctioned at our annual fundraiser this September 13th at Ten Spoon Vineyard and Winery.
The Mayfly Fling Fundraiser is a Sunday after event that celebrates the watershed we live in through live music, kid's activities, art contests, wine and food.
The Mayfly Fling Fundraiser 2015 theme is "watersheds" and we will present this theme through art, writing and science. We are holding a fundraiser for the community to "adopt-a-classroom" to provide funds for classes that cannot attend our programs either because of funding needs or accessibility.
Because the purpose of the event is to raise funds for classrooms, we are asking artists to create a new work or submit works that have already been created within the theme of "River" or "Watershed".
Children in grades pre K- 12th grade, throughout Western Montana will benefit from this fundraiser. There are more than 30 classes that have requested our unique programs to provide 5 hours of science, art and writing education that get students outside and into their backyard rivers. Normally a classroom pays our modest fee of $100 per three day program. However, many underserved schools cannot afford this fee. WEN believes strongly that watershed education is part of every child’s heritage! Socioeconomic circumstances need not be a barrier for any child to learn and become stewards of their watersheds. After all, Montana is known for its unique natural beauty and incredible water resources. To maintain and restore these pristine waters into the future, we need to invest in educating our children producing a generation of watershed literate citizens.
